Understanding the business environment is critical to the success of any business. It is important therefore, for Healthcare managers to gain the business knowledge that will inform strategic management decision-making within their individual practices. This qualification has been designed for healthcare managers who do not have the time to do an MBA. The exit learning outcome of the Advanced Certificate in Health Management (ACHM) is to enable participants to apply management principals on a strategic level in organisations within the healthcare environment to optimise health in SA.

Course Design

Distance education through comprehensive study manuals developed by experts in the field supported by 12 days of virtual sessions over 12 months.

Study Material

All programme material and videos of each module will be available on the support website.


Students will be assessed by means of both formative and summative assessments. With a minimum of one written assignment per module and one overarching Portfolio of Evidence based on the Action Research Methodology.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirement is an NQF Level 5 qualification.


The AdvCert (Health Management) is a formally registered and accredited qualification, registered on the NQF as a level 6 qualification for 120 Credits. SAQA ID: 96725

Accredited, according to the HPCSA’s Medical and Dental Board Guidelines for Healthcare Professionals for 30 Ethical CEUs on level 2.


Students will receive an AdvCert (Health Management) for this qualification if they successfully complete all the, individual tests, assignments and submit a Portfolio of Evidence underpinned by the Action Research Methodology.
